Always take a prepayment

Problematic clients often equal those clients who just don’t want to pay. When you work for a larger company, your rights are protected, which means clients have way less chance to get out of having to pay but when you work as a freelancer, problematic nonpaying clients are literally your nightmare.
The reason for that is, that your options are way more limited and even if you bring the case to a courtroom these situations can easily evolve into you standing there without any money. Therefore it’s always wise to take a certain amount of prepayment.
This way even if you are let down you won’t get stuck without any money. Other tips include the following:
- Take a predefined amount of prepayment
- Have a contract or an agreement signed by all parties, this way you have a legal backup
- Act according to the order and do exactly what you are asked to do, not more and not less
